Textile Museum DETAILS

All taken at the textile museum in Tilburg. A great museum where old crafts collides with the 21st century. From a huge textile lab to gigantic weaving machines. It's architecture was amazing, a beautiful merge of the new geometric tight lines and the composition of the old weaving factory. The huge old Pipes make it a picture perfect. Museum De pont is also worth a visit, a beautiful modern museum in the same street. On the route you'll find a really nice thriftstore where a bought a new warm coat and a vest, a little more prepared for coming winter. A whole day out so the speak.

My room in Amsterdam, tiny but practical. Love the fact that its divided in a chill area and work area, because there will be enough of those the coming year. Still busy decorating the room and this is the result of one evening. Still on the hunt for some vintage magazines, love to combine the new with the old. An example is on the 4th picture, the far right photo is from a magazine published in 1999. It's so nice to see it fits the newer photos seamlessly.

After dreaming wishing and hoping the time has finally come. After the introduction camp of AMFI I immmediately moved into my room in Amsterdam. It's so perfect, and just the right size. As I might have told you before I'm going to study Fashion&Branding at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. First schoolday starts this tuesday and I'm so psyched. Fotografiska Museet

One of the most impressive museums in Stockholm is undoubtly the fotografiska museet. The diversity of photographers made it a real adventure. From the sexually tinted photos of Maplethorpe to a chamber full of haystacks to remember children who found their dead early or who just disappeared (the circle of memory). But also some rather unknown photographers were exhibited here, like the first picture wich I really love. The innocent face contra the develish wings makes it so powerful.

Most of my pictures shown above are from the collection 'Northern Woman.' A collaboration with photographer Peter Farago and stylist Ingela Klemetz-Farago together with Chanel. The Northern women like Freja Beja Erichson were shot in Scandinavia. It's Scandinavia meets France, a perfect combination

One exhibition was really striking for me, 'the unbearable lightness of being' Jacqueline Hellman captures the life of her friend Cizzi who has to live with anorexia and a depression.

'I began photographing with a view to try to save Cizzi. I thought that my hard work would have a strengthening effect and that I would be able to help Cizzi and everyone else who is suffering. They would recover automatically. When I didn’t reach my goals, reality sunk its claws into me. It didn’t matter how many letters I wrote or how often I tried to tempt her with stories of how good life can be. I couldn’t help her. The only thing I got was pictures. That’s how the story of Cizzi began. A story about social ideals, involuntary commitment and longing. A depiction not just of her but of friendship. Our friendship.'

These photographs are made outside the historika museet, a museum about the history of Stockholm and Sweden. Quite boring except for some amazing arm pieces and necklaces who were really hard to be photographed. Somehow I feel there is a change on how I dress lately, simplistic with a little grunge. The pants I'm wearing are new, bought them at weekday, an amazing scandinavian store that sells tons of cheap monday pants. These are the high waisted ones, I was craving for a pair like these for a long long time. Melt Festival 2011 was kind of a fashion week to me, tons of beautiful dressed people. But I cant pass by on the real deal, After a checkup at the AIFW site one collection just caught my eye, made by a young designer called Winde Rienstra. After winning 'The Green Fashion Competition' last year, she earned a spot on the catwalk this season.

The amazing constructions made out of wood and rope depict her view on the energy that surrounds us, human beings. Which in my opinion turns out beautifully including the jewelry. Love the arm cuff pictured above therefore I was really psyched when I read that she will start an accesoire line for Not Just a Label, an online shop.

A trip to Brussels

This weekend me and my aunt went on a city trip to Brussels. Loved the architecture at the 'grote markt' and of course the vintage/thrift shopping. We stayed at the vintage hotel, a real simple but stylish hotel in the South of Brussels. I have seen a lot of stuff but only bought 3 items, a real archievement, so to speak. I'll show you later on. A tip to go to, is the fleamarket at Vossenplein. It's open every day till 14.00.
But I won't be staying home for too long, going to Melt Festival 2011 in the east of Germany this thursday!

Trashy thoughts aka Rebecca Niculae has a mind full of creativity. These pictures are made by me for one of her projects. The location and editing was done by her, she is the best in photoshop (I recently found out although I’ve known her for over 4 years) She customized the H&M top shown above with a certain Idea behind it. ‘The top was beautiful yet, but people need to have the best, no matter what it takes. After I dyed the top, it actually became too small. The consequence of wanting to have more is therefore fatal’
I was overwhelmed by the result and I’m so excited she will shoot some outfit posts for me in the future. But one thing is for sure, you’ll hear more from her.

Since my niece is studying at AMFI I had to help her out backstage at the graduation show of this year. But there was a twist in the plan, I ended up on the catwalk for Laura Kirchner. I felt like an outcast between all those models, but it was really nice. The adrenaline kicking in when you hit the runway is worth all the insecurities. Between all the drama I was able to take some pictures, et voila!

First of all, it's been way too long. Due to final exams blogging wasn't really on the mind. And when they finished I got ill, today; day numero 4. I've been craving for these times for such a long time and it sucks so hard not be able to do anything you want. But today I felt like going to the flea market anyway, because I knew my favourite stall would be there. It's one with tons of vintage jewelry as old as the grumpy lady who sold the stuff. So a While ago I passed by this antique shop in my home town. Since I've been working on a project with a friend of mine I fell in love with the traditional wear and especially its jewelry. I'm considering on buying a black necklace (in the picture they are red), because it's so special and beautiful. I think it will look really good in combination with modern clothes.

Oh, also wanted to make you aware of the fact that on the Second of April our magazine will be released in a local newspaper called the PZC. It's 'surprisingly' about the traditional wear in zeeland, as you may have read before. Today I recieved a format of what it will look like, and it really excited me. But there are more surprises coming, so stay tuned!

Ow, I just love the pleads, colours and the collars. The way the pieces move it such a beautiful way, it's all in line with the main goal in the collection: aerodynamicism. 030311/ Interview Arnemuiden

Today I had the second part of the interview about traditional wear. I spoke to a lady in Arnemuiden, 30 km away from where I live. In this fishing village the traditional wear flourishes the most compared to other parts in zeeland, the province I live in. There are still 28 ladies who wear the traditional clohting everyday in this small village. You can see it differs a tiny bit from the woman I spoke before. The 'beuk' is worn differently, and the cap is bigger because of its size she only wears it on sunday when she goes to church. It's just too unhandy.

The interview will be featured in a supplement of the local newspaper, together with some other material. It's so exciting this project is finally coming to an end. It will be published on the 26th of march.

Since I had a nice amount of money on my bank account, I was able to shop again, sigh. Ended up buying alot of vintage, they are my favourites because of their originality and cheapness. I really don't wear too much bright colours but when I came by this weird-ass blouse I just needed to have it, also looking ahead for spring where bright colours are no. 1
And the creepers were on my wish list for a long long time, and there they were, my babies. Not too much, in my opinion. The sole is not that high, but I really need to fill them up with some wet newspapers because my feet are killed by them, hope they will get a bit more flexible.

The thing I love about fashion, is that it always returns. In this book called: Jong, all the subcultures are mentioned from the 1950s till 2000, and I absolutely love it. Describes their lifestyle, clothing and way of thinking. From Punk to New Wave and from Hippie to House. It's so weird to see how some aspects are really fashionable right now. Especially the first picture taken at waterloopplein in Amsterdam. The eyeliner, the clothes. You should read it yourself and show it to your parents, they tend to get really sentimental. So last Wednesday I had an interview with Mevrouw Traas, an 88-year old lady who still wears the traditional wear. Her story was amazing, she wears the clothes for more than 82 years(!) and she kept it wearing although others stopped. She makes the clothing all herself, in order she developed her own style. 'This is me' she said, 'and I hope to wear it till the very last end'
I've seldom seen such a proud woman, it really moved me.

I wanted you to show you a part of my portfolio. All photos are made for my graduation project, it's about the traditional wear in my region. The end project will be a magazine featured in the PZC, a local newspaper. It tells a story about history never leaving the clothes, in this case the traditional wear. There are only a few ladies left who are still wearing it every day, a great loss when their generation fades away. I wanted to show you that it still lives in new fashion, and make a mix where you can't see the diffrence.

It is a stressfull project but worth all the effort. I'll keep you informed about it, and hope you enjoyed the pictures

So last tuesday i went on my weekly vintage shopping tour around my village. At the salvation army I bought some beige trousers for men, got my scissors et voilà, the perfect high waist shorts. Also managed to retrieve this perfect couch, small but comfi and my favourite non-colour. At finally I bought a nice touch to my jewelry collection, while looking for the perfect earcuff I got by this snake, and just had to have it. Where I found it? on www.large-online.nl, haha.

I don't know what makes me want fall in love with her. Maybe her kind look, everlasting youth or the mysterious appearance. She stayed true to herself, the most important thing in life. I need to learn a lot of things.
